North Hills: The Athlete’s Haven
Project Overview: This full-home project transformed a nearly 6,000-square-foot new build into a personal sanctuary for one of Raleigh’s elite professional athletes. Beyond aesthetics, the home needed to function as a recovery tool; a place where an athlete navigating an intense competitive season could genuinely restore both body and mind.
Design Challenge: The home began as a builder-grade blank canvas; a vast, very white open floor plan with beautiful bones but little warmth. The challenge was to layer in soul and story: spaces built for genuine recovery, and a design that honored the client’s identity without resorting to anything expected.
Scope of Work: Comprehensive full-home design, including space planning, custom build design, mood boards, 3D renderings, procurement, and full project coordination across builders, fabricators, and artisans. Two elements defined the project: a custom trophy cabinet and bar, hand-built from local wood and hand-patinated copper, and deeply considered art curation; commissioned pieces chosen to tell the story of the client’s life, where he’s from and where he’s going.
Final Results: We layered organic materials, pops of color, and curated art onto a blank canvas to create a home that supports recovery and feels effortless for entertaining. The custom trophy, cabinet designed from scratch and built by hand, anchors the space as both a showcase for hard-earned memorabilia and a functional bar. The finished home is warm, elevated, and unmistakably his.
